TransitCenter invites you to reduce your carbon footprint with Clean Air NY from June 15-19 as part of Commit to Cleaner Air Week.
During the Week's festivities, Clean Air NY and TransitCenter invite you to commit to changing your driving habits. Bike, walk, carpool. Even just once a week will make a difference.
As part of this week, Clean Air NY will introduce the new Clean Air NY mascot in the form of a cloud. This mascot will appear around the New York City metro area and will ride public transportation to model transportation choices that benefit air quality.

With summer upon us, many sports teams and transit agencies are encouraging fans to get to baseball games using mass transit options rather than driving. In many cases, it's faster and less expensive, and it allows you to beat traffic, tolls, parking costs and more.
And remember, TransitChek participants can use pretax dollars to pay for transit use and can share their transit benefit with friends and family, making it an even more cost-effective commuting option for everyone.
- The San Diego Padres have partnered with local transit agencies to offer discount tickets for Tuesday games to fans that use mass transit to get to Petco Park. Passengers showing a valid transit ticket at the stadium will receive $6 off any ticket over $14. For more information, go to http://www.sdmts.com/Bus/SpecialEvent.asp.
- In Washington, D.C., WMATA offers free parking at Metro Park and Ride lots on weekends and federal holidays, with transit options leading directly to Nationals Park. For more information, go to http://www.wmata.com/getting_around/metro_events/nationals/.
- Seattle's SoundTransit offers the Sounder "Home Run" service (http://www.soundtransit.org/x10827.xml) directly to SafeCo Field for Mariners games, with transit options that include bus, train and light rail.
- The new Yankee Stadium in the Bronx is now serviced by Metro North Railroad, thanks to a new station that connects to points as far as Poughkeepsie and New Haven. Additionally, fans can reach Yankee Stadium by subway from midtown Manhattan in under 30 minutes.
With summer here, TransitChek participants should remember that they can use their benefit for all travel via transit - including vacation getaways! Here are some ideas for summer travel:
