The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), operates the third largest public transportation system in the United States based on ridership.

The L.A. MetroRail is composed of 62 stations, consisting of the Red, Blue, Green, and Gold Lines. The Orange Line is a busway that runs in the San Fernando Valley. From Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, MetroRail passengers can transfer to the Metrolink commuter rail system. From the Green Line Aviation station passengers can transfer to a free shuttle that will take them to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) terminals.

The Los Angeles metropolitan area is served by more airports than any other major city in the world, with 5 major commercial airports, and many more general-aviation airports.
