Atlanta has long been a major U.S. rail junction, and is also a major airline hub. The city's transit system includes rail and bus, operated by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). The rail system lines of a North-South Line (Orange) and a West-East Line (Blue). The bus system is more wide-ranging, covering many Georgia counties, intersecting with several rail lines as well.

Located 10 miles south of downtown, the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the hub for Delta Airlines and has the most passenger and aircraft traffic in the world. There are more than ten additional, smaller airports in the greater Atlanta area.

MARTA provides a direct connection from the Hartsfield-Jackson to several areas in downtown Atlanta-there is rail station within the terminal.
